1. About VINCE
VINCE (Visayas Integrated Navigation and Campus Explorer) is an AI-powered campus information chatbot developed as an academic thesis project by BS Computer Science students of Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte. VINCE is designed to answer questions about campus locations, offices, and general university information.
VINCE is a prototype research system and is not an official university service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Visayas State University as an institution.
2. Acceptable Use
By using VINCE, you agree to:
- Use the service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
- Ask questions relevant to campus navigation and university information.
- Treat the system with reasonable use (no spam, flooding, or automated abuse).
You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or compromise the system or its underlying APIs.
- Submit queries containing offensive, defamatory, or unlawful content.
- Deliberately attempt to manipulate or "jailbreak" the AI system.
- Use VINCE for commercial purposes without written authorization.
- Impersonate university officials, staff, or other users.
3. AI Disclaimer — Accuracy of Responses
VINCE uses natural language processing (NLP) to classify queries and retrieve information from a curated knowledge base. While every effort is made to keep the knowledge base accurate and up-to-date, VINCE may occasionally provide incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information.
VINCE's responses do not constitute official university guidance, academic advice, legal advice, or professional advice of any kind. For official information, always consult the relevant VSU office or official university channels directly.
The developers and Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of VINCE's responses.
4. Intellectual Property
The VINCE system, its source code, design, knowledge base content, and associated materials are the intellectual work of the thesis development team at Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte. All rights are reserved.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of VINCE or its content without prior written permission from the developers.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the VINCE development team and Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte shall not be liable for:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of VINCE.
- Decisions made based on information provided by VINCE.
- Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss.
- Unauthorized access to data resulting from circumstances beyond reasonable control.
6. Data Collection and Privacy
Use of VINCE is subject to our Privacy Statement, which describes how interaction data is collected and processed in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173).
7. Availability
VINCE is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to the service. The system may be taken offline for maintenance, updates, or end-of-research decommissioning without prior notice.
8. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of VINCE after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, including but not limited to the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000 (RA 8792). Any disputes arising from the use of VINCE shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts in the Philippines.
